Dos and Don’ts of using a Body wash

Dos and Don’ts of using a Body wash

Shower time is the most relaxing part of one’s daily routine. It’s a perfect example of the much-needed me-time.

We all love the feel and fragrance of body washes more than the old school soap bars, don’t we? It’s often the scent sealing the deal when picking one out, because who doesn’t want to smell like Japanese cherry blossom or romantic vintage roses?

There are some dos and don’ts that you need to keep in mind to use a shower gel to make your bathing experience more pleasant as well as effective. Remember these useful tips the next time you hop into the shower. The best part about using a body wash is that it is untouched by hands and hence, it is hygienic, unlike the regular bar soaps.

Let’s have a look at some major points that you must keep in mind while pampering yourself with a nice shower.

Choose a body wash that suits your skin

It’s important to remember that adapting your skin to a new body wash will take between 2-4 weeks. This is particularly true if you have used bar soap or liquid body wash filled with synthetic ingredients before. After the first attempt, some people see promising results, but unless you have a significant allergic reaction, we suggest that you hold it out for a minimum of two weeks. Be it a shower gel for women or men, it is important to make sure you choose what suits your skin the best.

A loofah is a must

Do use a loofah in the shower to gently exfoliate your skin. A loofah not only retains the shower gel lather but also helps to expel those dead pesky cells. As an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic loofahs, you can also opt for loofahs made out of hemp or other natural materials.

Don’t be biased towards hard-to-reach parts

On the back and other hard-to-reach areas of the body, apply the shower gel. A successful shower is not only about the shower gel you use but about where the body wash is applied as well. In the crevices between our fingers and toes, behind our elbows, and on our backs, dirt and germs lurk. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly wash these areas.

A body wash is for your body

Don’t cleanse your face with body wash. A lot of people believe that the body wash can be used on their face, but this is simply wrong. The skin on the face is much more delicate than the skin on the body and requires a milder cleanser that suits its unique needs.

Don’t be lazy to scrub

For at least 15 seconds, scrub each region of your body. If you have ever wondered if bacteria and other germs can ruin your shower gel, then this tip is for you. You need to rub it on your body for a good 15-30 seconds before rinsing to ensure that it gets rid of all the germs for the soap or body wash to function as an antibacterial agent.

Bathing is like therapy and we all deserve to make it the most therapeutic time of the day. Keep these tips in mind and enjoy a perfect bathing ritual for that relaxing effect.
